We're Moving!!

Wizard is on the move!

Following the success of our latest programmes and a distinct increase in interest in what we have to offer, Wizard Education has finally taken the plunge and taken on new premises of our own!

Our aim is to provide a mix of educational and community based learning and work related experience opportunities. We want to be able to work hand in hand with the local community to provide an accessible centre for learning, links with local enterprise and family orientated activities for all to enjoy. With the additional space at our new buildings, we will be offering a new community cafe where we can combine our educational and catering expertise to provide first hand work experience, including industry entry level training to our students, 16-18yr old NEETs and community volunteers - with the added bonus of a friendly cuppa, home made cakes, book swap and arts & crafts or internet & computer workshops for anyone who cares to drop by!

An essential ingredient to our success so far has been the terrific support we have received from local businesses, individuals, professionals and craftsmen and women who have either donated equipment, materials or time sharing their skills and expertise to help our students with their projects. With extremely flexible, individual programmes, our student projects have ranged from organising a soap box derby, building websites, painting a mural, working on mopeds, bicycles and motorbikes to building a kit car and restoring their own classic MG Roadster.

For the future we hope to have more community centred projects. Our next big project will be to help us breath life into the historic landmark at the bottom of Eastcott Hill that we have made our new home, or what was previously know of as the George public house and will now be known as The Wizard.

Sadly in need of massive repairs and refurbishment to restore it to its former glory, we have our work cut out but offers of help have already started and we hope to be up and running by Easter 2012. With a brand new community training facility planned onsite for local community radio Swindon 105.5fm, our very own art studio and conference or workshop rooms to hire, we really do hope to have something for everyone!

Exciting, isn't it!!
