Based in a working cafe, the Introduction to Food, Drink & Cooking course is aimed at students interested in a career in catering. It provides essential food preparation training and hygiene and food safety awareness for anyone hoping to work in a food environment. The course includes the official CIEH level 1 Award in Food Safety, a positive head start when applying for any food related job or training opportunity, whether for part time work in the holidays or a full time career path!

Working with the Environmental Health office and based in a real, working cafe with actual customers and orders to fulfil, students learn about both the practicalities of working in a food environment plus basic legal responsibilities and general good practice that will be expected of them. During this 6 week course students learn about preparing healthy meals, cooking safely, customer service and basic hygiene.
